My husband and I stayed at the Stardust hotel twice now because we are building on a lake nearby. We are from Chicago. The location is perfect for us and the rooms are very clean and have all the necessities such as a Keurig refrigerator and a microwave. My husband really enjoys the water pressure in the shower. Eileen is very efficient and easy to work with. We will definitely be staying there many times over the course of this project.Posted on Google

Paul Tannahill55 days agoWhen I am on a long, multi-day road trip, I try to economize and not go for the most expensive hotels and motels out there. On this particular trip around the country (8500+ miles), this philosophy has disappointed me more than anything else, putting up with all kinds of nonsense in my hotel stays. The Stardust Motel was a shining exception to this, with a terrific exterior and interior, great customer service for they made the check-in process very simple and appealing for me. The room itself was clean, updated, to the point of where I cannot pick one issue to complain about. It was about as perfect as it could be. I got a great night of sleep, a terrific shower with lots of water pressure, and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!Posted on Google

Eileen was incredibly helpful and made sure all our requests were taken care of, down to funny smells we thought we detected. Craig Rolfe402 days agoSept. 11 was Day 1 of a cross-country road trip, with my dog. After 10 hours of driving I initially drove past this nondescript small motel on US 2 in the middle of nowhere, but on a whim went back to check it out. The office was closed, but upon contacting Eileen via the Ring doorbell, she said Room 6 on the end was open, and to just go on in and settle-up in the morning. I was pleasantly stunned upon opening that door. EVERYTHING about the room was amazing, with high-quality decor and comfort. The bar next door was a bonus, with an excellent NY strip steak dinner (with baked tater and home-made chili) for the grand sum of $23.95! If you're looking for a place to stay in this part of Minnesota, do yourself a favor and go out of your way to the Stardust Motel in Floodwood!Posted on Google

We stay in the same suite every time, the place is very clean and super cute, it's comfortable and cozy. The owner is very accommodating and we have never had anything negative to say. Lavin Mansukhani670 days agoI’ll admit, I was initially hesitant to stay here. Let’s be honest, a name like Stardust Motel can sound a bit sketchy. But with my usual hotels fully booked, I decided to give it a shot, and I’m so glad I did. This place far exceeded my expectations! While the exterior might look a little dated, the interior tells a completely different story. The rooms have been beautifully renovated with new, comfortable bedding and updated bathrooms. The hot water was fantastic, which was a pleasant surprise. What really stood out to me was how clean and cozy everything felt - way beyond what I anticipated. Needless to say, this will now be my go-to place when I’m in the area. Highly recommended!Posted on Google
Aj Grubb687 days agoThe only reason this isn't 5 stars, well I'll get there. This place is a gem. Clean, cute, has such nice touches in it. Easy peasy check in. We loved it. We also needed it. But that's not why we loved it. We were tired and Didn't want to drive anymore, not another 15-30 min. This place was in the right place right time. We would have taken anything. But this was way better. Clean 5, Service 5, Location 5, Bed.....Well they were comfy, then you find yourself migrating to the middle. That's ok if your one person, 2 in the bed, makes for a struggle. Thankfully, we had 2 beds, so I crawled out, and made my way to the other bed, for a very restful night. Happy and homey I’d stay again Absolute gem. My Mom passed so I had to drive from Edmonton, Alberta to Montreal, Quebec and took the south route. I’m now returning and have completed 3/4 of this wretched trip. This place felt like a mini holiday. Clean, comfy, fridge & microwave, coffee, wifi & TV. Everything worked and everything was in the rite place. I’m 70 so I don’t travel that far in a day and this place is heads and above anything else I’ve stayed in. Also one of the cheapest. AND……there was a live plant in a cute holder on the wall. Yes, there are no on duty staff (there’s only 6 rooms) so don’t be dumb and just arrive. The owner lives in the wee town and if you book ahead like normal people she’s there waiting for you. If I ever have to do this horrible trip again, this place, rite in the middle, will be my mini vacation again. Paul McKeownPosted on Google

Alan Thomsen828 days agoWe stayed at the Stardust motel while heading to Duluth. We pulled up and met the owner outside and visited for a while, very welcoming. Super clean and updated, nice sitting benches by door of each room. Walked into a beautiful updated room, very well done! Very spacious with a new bathroom. Instant hot water in the shower, lots of pressure. Bar restaurant on one side, burger joint on the other side. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay at on next trip to Duluth in a couple weeks. Would highly recommend it for a good night's sleep.+6Posted on Google

linda f854 days agoA great place to stay in Floodwood! Friends have stayed in the motel and have always been very pleased with this motel. We opted to stay in one of the suites to have a little more room because we stayed a number of nights. We were blown-away by our suite: a separate bedroom, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a comfortable couch (with throws to curl up under!). Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable and the proprietor was exceptionally helpful with a problem we had. It is tastefully decorated and has a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. The beds and pillows are comfortable and everything immaculate. It is run by the owner.Posted on Google
Rachel Raveling887 days agoThis is a gem of a motel! We will definitely stay again. We needed to be in meadowlands early morning so made a weekend trip and visited the bog area, which is amazing. We stayed in room 6 that has a king bed. Very clean and comfortable and stylish! Felt more like an Airbnb. The bed is a memory foam type bed and was excellent. Great selection of channels on TV. Mini fridge, microwave and Keurig in the room. Bathroom was so nice and clean, shower pressure was so good! Shampoo and soaps and cups provided and nice soft towels. The gal helping us out was very friendly and easy to talk to. Only one thing I recommend is to get black out curtains, it got very light in the room at 5am with sunrise. So if you're good with that, that's great. Otherwise bring an eye mask! We didn't use the heat or AC so can't comment on that. Very cute town and both restaurants on either side were great to eat at. One is just rooms and the other has suites or kitchenettes! Owner that I met was wonderful. Would absolutely stay again! If u view the pics don't mind my mess. John N1183 days agoA Perfect Sax-Zim Stay This motel was recommended by other visitors to Sax-Zim Bog. We were very pleased with the accommodation, a much bigger room than offered at any economy motels, spotlessly clean, with a very friendly owner who went to great lengths to getting the tv to operate properly. Very good Wi-Fi , the room is decorated nicely, and most important very comfortable beds. Our Golden Retrievers were welcome with a modest fee and the very large open area behind the building gave them a chance for a nice run. Susan L1377 days agoA good surprise What looked from the outside like a typical aging strip motel turned out to be a lovely place to stay and a real bargain. The room was spotless, I mean really pristine; the decor was modern and well appointed. There was a microwave and a mini-frig with a REAL freezer, a single serve coffee machine and selection of coffees, really fluffy nice towels. This room would cost 4 times as much in an urban hotel and was just as nice. This will be our choice whenever we return to the Sax Zim bog.Posted on Tripadvisor
Steven R1472 days agoAmazing stop! We were traveling on Route 2 headed towards Duluth. It was getting dark and we drove past this motel. My husband stopped in to ask about a room. What a wonderful experience! The owner was on property to meet us and was very sweet and helpful. The rooms are very reasonably priced and very clean , comfortable and updated. millenniumhwy1873 days agoAn oasis for weary travelers My brother and I were traveling recently across US 2 and started looking for places to stay while still in Wisconsin. Everything near Duluth was booked up except for one location that wanted more than $400 for one night. After doing some research, my brother found this location a bit west of Duluth and called the number. The owner answered and said they'd had a cancellation, and we could have the room if we wanted it, and they would meet us at the property. We arrived there, and the owner got there about five minutes later. Check-in was very efficient, and the room ended up being one of the quaintest, nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. It was well-appointed with a microwave and refrigerator, wi-fi service, and appeared to have been recently remodeled. The furnishings weren't standard motel white; the sheets were patterned and there were brightly colored towels. The price was very reasonable and this absolutely was a great place to stay. We got there so late the only place to get something to eat was the very busy Speedway food mart across the road. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. Robert P1995 days agoDiamond in the Rough This little motel is the cutest and most homey room we have stayed in in a long time. Super easy and pleasant check in. It may not look like anything fancy from the outside but the rooms are well appointed with clean bedding and towels. Cable tv and super fast wi fi. The Stardust was a nice base for our daytime adventures. The motel is next to the Savanna Portage night club which was a nice place for dinner. Homey, Clean and Comfy The Stardust Inn is a lovely bit of this town of just 500 people. My room was very clean, and i loved the many homey touches: unpainted wood bathroom, lovely photo scene on shower curtain, cushy bath mat, comfy towels, nice print sheets and bedspreads and lovely rug in room. All these touches made it feel like a home away from home. The owners recommended the Burger House for good hamburgers next door, and they were right-- delicious.Posted on Tripadvisor

Everything was lovely, until the hotel charged me twice for my stay. I called them several times to speak with someone to rectify the situation and they DID NOT RETURN MY CALLS. After many attempts, I finally got a hold of Luisa and informed them of the situation. She never acknowledged this incident as a mistake nor took it as a serious matter that their staff is taking people’s credit cards to conduct fraudulent charges. The rooms have wood floors and the bathrooms have beautiful light wood tongue and groove planking and brand new fixtures. Everything was impeccably clean and comfortable. HomeSeaHomeDestin3377 days agoGrandma's Weekend! Great Stay! We stayed at the Stardust in motel for grandma's Marathon weekend 2017. We were greeted by the owner, who was wonderful and checked us in quickly. The rooms were extremely clean, very large, and had two nice queen beds. It was only an hour drive to Duluth, which was great for packet pick up day and Race morning. The rate was at least $100-$200 LOWER than anything in or around Duluth. The room was meticulously clean, comfortably furnished, surprisingly spacious, quiet and private. We would drive out of our way to stay there again. GRACE M3477 days agoClean motel at a good price. The motel has two comfortable beds and the room is clean. The bathroom is old and a bit uncomfortable. For breakfast, the motel is surrounded by gas stations and places to buy sandwiches. The price is good for what's offered. The receptionist speaks Spanish.

Caro K3718 days agoAAA auto club used to give extra stars for places you could park right outside the door! So if you forgot something in your car, just open the door and there you are. Fine little town and lovely clean rooms. I loved the tongue and groove ceilings. We've stayed here twice and hope to do so again in Sept. I'd rather spend my money at the great shops in Duluth than on the over-priced motels there, where you end up on the third floor a block from your car.Posted on Tripadvisor
mcreviston443727 days agoThe true meaning of a diamond in the rough. I'm on the road for work, so I stay in a lot of hotels and motels. For $69/night I wasn't expecting much. But this room was nicer than some of the chain motels. Everything was very nice, very clean and modern. If I could find little motels like this in every city I have to work in, I would stay there every time.Posted on Tripadvisor
Okanagantourer3732 days agoOutstanding, Spotlessly clean, quiet Looking for a great place to stay near Duluth the Stardust Motel is a great choice. I stayed here previously when travelling back east and made it a point of staying here on my return trip home to B.C. I can't say enough good things about this Motel and the owner Lucia who is a " Hands On " owner. During my last stay I forgot my motorcycle jacket in my room and Lucia was kind enough to mail it to my home at no charge. It's the little extra and personal touch by Lucia that makes this Motel such a hit with travellers as noted by their reviews. The owners work hard to have such a pleasant place for travelers! The property is well maintained. Everything sparkled. The owners were as pleasant and welcoming as if we were guests in their home. In addition, there were some nice surprises. Upon entering our room, we found two bottles of apple juice and a nice bag of mixed fruit. Both a refrigerator and a microwave were available. In case we were looking for something to do, there were puzzles, and the number of TV channels was excellent. We had a very comfortable night's sleep. We would gladly stay at the Stardust Inn again if the opportunity presents itself. I highly recommend it.Posted on Tripadvisor
jenifer k3776 days agoSo helpful We were riding our motorcycle across country and we needed to find a place to stay. Because of the marathon in Duluth, there were no rooms available anywhere. We called this hotel and because of a horrible storm, had a hard time connecting. We ended up texting and she graciously agreeded to hold her last room for us, trusting that we would show up. The room was super clean. I mean, meticulously clean. It was a nice room with everything you need for a great price. My only complaint would be that there is no ice machine or bucket. We could have walked over to the gas station and probably gotten some ice, but we did fine without it. Second, the beds are hard. They could use new mattresses or a mattress pad on them. Overall though I would stay again. If you are in need of a place don't hesitate to book here.Posted on Tripadvisor
duckie1303776 days agoPleasant Surprise Very clean and cozy. Best hotel stay on Hwy 2. Excellent price and the owner was very accommodating. Highly recommend this place. cliftongirl553902 days agoVery clean, comfortable nice hotel This hotel is about as clean a place as I have ever stayed in. It is right in the middle of this (small) town center. There is a decent restaurant next door, a gas station ( with great take-out coffee) across the street. The hotel is not fancy, but is comfortable equipped with a microwave, fridge and a flat-screen TV. The owner is very accommodating. Craig G3979 days agoWish there was a Stardust in every town I visit Beautiful vintage & modern mix style rooms. Exceptionally clean which is very important to me. The linens & towels were bright white & soft. The corner behind the bathroom door was just as clean & maintained as every other part of the room. There's no smoking inside the rooms & it was snowing hard but walk right outside your door to a country style bench shielded from the elements with an ashtray beside it & a flower pot on the other side with bright gorgeous flowers in the middle of winter. Yes the flowers are artificial but adding color & beauty to an otherwise gray & blah town is what makes this motel my absolute favorite. Very quiet & laid back atmosphere. If they added a jacuzzi in the room I'd never leave!!Posted on Tripadvisor
Mrkingleisurebed4069 days agoFaultlessly clean, a bargain and a great break from Duluth We stayed at the Stardust with not a lot of trepidation based on the previous reviews. They were spot-on. The property was spotless, better than many more expensive and much more modern hotels. The proprietor was extremely helpful - she brought my Wife her own coffee maker to satisfy a coffee addict. Floodwood is a tiny town approximately 50 minutes West of Duluth - a perfect jumping-off spot or landing spot after spending a hot day(!) in crowded, touristy Duluth. Try to plan on stopping here either on your day before Duluth, on your way out or as we did - base there and travel into Duluth. Really, for our time and 8 gallons of gas we saved over $140 from outrageous Duluth hotel costs for two nights lodging.Posted on Tripadvisor

Janice Mc4118 days agoExceeded our expectations! This is not your typical motel. Our room had more of a B&B feel to it than that of an average strip motel. The property itself is well cared for and the interior was comfortable, cozy, spotless and for the price had better amenities than other places I've stayed. Our hostess was friendly and accommodating...she supplied us with rags for our motorcycles and said that we could move them into her garage in the event of rain. The location was convenient for us. We could walk to grab a bite for dinner and breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and would gladly stay there again if in the area!Posted on Tripadvisor

SEAGustie4515 days agoGreat Motel Find on Hwy 2 We and other family members stayed here for a local gathering. Vintage, sweet and very clean. Owners were wonderful and unobtrusive. Location is about an hour from Duluth and a bit less from Grand Rapids with a couple good places to eat in town (close early though) and a grocery that opens at 8 am. jim T4541 days agoGreat Vintage Motel I found the Stardust by accident, when I was in the area for work. The folks at the restaurant next door recommended it--it's so small, I hadn't noticed it. And, since it's not a chain, I wasn't sure what I was going to get, but I was tired, so I took a chance. Best decision of the week! The building was probably built in the 60s, but the room was extremely clean, and looked newly renovated. It was a perfect place for me to stay, with a small fridge & a microwave. Not fancy, and definitely not expensive. And quiet. I stayed there 4 nights, and met the owners. Extremely nice folks (new owners), who also run the local newspaper. I have been traveling from Halifax, N.S. through N.B., Q.C., O.N. then through to M.I., W.C. and M.I.. and then back into Canada S.K. and finally A.B. After a long 10 hr drive and many other motels along the way this place was fabulous. In Minnesota I was lucky to find a small but cute little motel. It was rather inexpensive and was beautiful on the outside. Unlike the previous review I had no problem making a reservation. However, I called the night before to book. It is run by an older couple. They are very nice, but expect they run it themselves so perhaps that is why they didn't answer. The rooms are clean and fresh smelling. My room had two beds and only cost 62$ with taxes included. It had its own heater and air conditioner, laminate floors, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, table with two chairs, cable and free WiFi. The motel is right off the number 2. When my GPS took me in the wrong direction was able to call and the husband came and stood outside to flag me down when i drove by. I was able to park right in front of my room which was convenient and right across the street is a gas station. The area was quiet but welcoming and the couple was very helpful. I strongly recommend if you are in the Floodwood area or near by to check it out.Posted on Tripadvisor
jlmccon4859 days agoNobody Home After a long day on the bikes we stopped at this cute little motel. Flower pots scattered all around. Walk up to the door to see about a room and there is a sign posted telling us to call a cell # to reserve a room. I called, left a message. We waited about 5 minutes but no one called us back.
